The early evolution— Origin and applications

Based on the famous theory coined by well-known physicist Blaise Pascal, the Hydraulic technology has revolutionized the field of innovation. Use of flexible shafts in aircraft hydraulic system

Hydraulics strives to hold an important role in commercial aircraft and related control functions. Pilots continue to invest trust in aircraft hydraulic system and thrust reversers just as the plane/jet lands. Reversers help decelerate a plane by shifting to a position that evades the thrust from the engine. This help in reducing load on the hydraulic brakes.

The thrust reversers are generally blocked in a stowed position mechanically and whenever a pilot unlocks and make use of them, hydraulic values that are solenoid operated feed sets of hydraulic actuators that surround the thrust reversers. As the aircraft slows down, the pilot drives the thrust reversers back to their original (stowed) position, and the valves around them reverse to recant the cylinders.

Advantages of flexible shafts

Rotary flexible shafts serve multiple benefits over other alternatives. Apart from effective gearing and universal joints, flexible shafts allow designing freedom as component alignment is easier in both cases, angular and parallel offset. Power density is considerably higher, easy to install, inexpensive and can be modified at the later stage of the project.
